A naming ceremony is one of the most personal events a family can hold, a chance to formally welcome a child, name godparents or guide-parents, and bring loved ones together without the constraints of a religious service. The Heritage Centre offers a warm, atmospheric space for the ceremony itself: think of it as the equivalent of a church, only without the religious framing. It’s the perfect setting to mark the moment, with celebrations afterwards held wherever suits you in the town or further afield.
The setting. The Heritage Centre is a single, characterful room with stone walls and original heritage features that lend real warmth and meaning to the ceremony. Capacity for up to 150 guests, comfortably seated for ceremonies of any size, from close family to a wider gathering of friends.
What’s included? Use of the centre for your ceremony, tables and chairs, and our in-house sound system for music, readings or a slideshow. We can also recommend independent celebrants who specialise in naming ceremonies if you’d like a hand finding the right person.

The magnificent colourful East Window and modern artefacts create a warm and colourful setting which can be designed to suit your personal style. Our lovely Yamaha grand piano adds to the occasion and can be used for your music. We also offer spotlighting and a sound system.

Carlingford Heritage Centre is a wonderful atmospheric space which can be designed to suit any ceremony large or small from 6 to 150.
Carlingford Heritage Centre is a restored church dating from the 13th century which is now a superb venue for civil weddings and arts events. It has a magnificent east window dating from 1870 which adds spectacular colour and warmth to the space. The medieval and Victorian features of the building together with the more modern artefacts added in the restoration create an atmospheric venue.
The space is ideal for any ceremony grand or simple , large or small. It can seat up to 150 yet looks superb with 25. You can decorate the space to suit your style and stage it as you wish. It can take elaborate design or can look charming with simple fresh flowers. Our grand piano adds to the occasion and is available for your use. We also offer spotlighting and a sound system.
We welcome you to visit Carlingford Heritage Centre and meet with our venue host , Sheila Boyle, who will show you around and answer your questions. Sheila will assist you as required with the layout and seating plan for your ceremony. You may visit as often as you wish and liaise with Sheila on the lead up to your special event. You may also reserve rehearsal time. On the day, Sheila and her team will ensure the venue is ready for additional decoration if required.
